I hold a PhD in Sociology (with certificates in Global Studies and Latin American Studies) from the University of Pittsburgh, a Master of Arts in Latin American Studies from the University of Florida, and BA in Environmental Studies from Denison University. I am an interdisciplinary scholar and my research and teaching focus is on the intersections of transnational social movements, critical political economy, and environmental, water, and climate justice, using feminist and anticolonial ethnographic research methodologies. My first book, Global Solidarities Against Water Grabbing: Without Water, We Have Nothing was published with Manchester University Press in September 2024. My peer-reviewed work has been published in Environmental Justice, Sociological Focus, Utilities Policy, Social Movement Studies, Studies in Social Justice, Revista CS, and Journal of World-Systems Research, and my work has appeared in more public-facing outlets such as Truthout, ROAR Magazine, and Berliner Gazette. I am engaged in water justice organizing locally and globally, and this work has also led to ongoing academic and community collaborations. My co-authored article entitled “Environmental Justice Victory? Waste Colonialism and the Afterlife of Lead Water Pipes,” was recently published at Environmental Justice. This is part of an ongoing and growing collaboration bringing together non-profits, EJ activists, public policy experts, and water systems to advocate for the necessity of a global approach to addressing local/national environmental and climate justice issues. My next major project brings together my teaching, activism, and research by looking at the role of popular education in climate justice movements.
